ACDelco - Harold Martin “Pro Who Knows” Scholarship Program

Empassioned by motorsports and the technology that enables one to become a winner, this year Harold will take on a new role for ACDelco in 2007 – raising awareness of the industry shortage on qualified automotive technicians, and youth outreach.

Martin will be speaking at high schools throughout the U.S. in cities on the race circuit, encouraging young people to pursue a career in automotive technology. Automotive service technicians and mechanics must continually adapt to changing technology and repair techniques as vehicle components and systems become increasingly sophisticated.

Today, there is a large demand for, and shortage of qualified technicians - reported to be in the range of eighty to one hundred thousand technicians nationwide.  And, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, many master technicians earn from $70,000 to $100,000 annually.

This aligns perfectly with Harold’s personal philosophy of encouraging audiences to maximize their potential.  This year, ACDelco and Harold Martin will award (4) $2500 Scholarships to high-school seniors who desire to enter the automotive technology field.
