It used to be that cracking the 500 horsepower mark was an epic achievement in the world of tuner cars built for the street. Now there’s no shortage of tuning firms willing to build anyone with the money–and the cajones–cars capable of developing up to and exceeding 1,000 horsepower.
Just yesterday we saw a 1,026 horsepower upgrade for the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 from Hennessey, and before that we saw Underground Racing unveil a wild kit for the Audi R8. Now Harold Martin Motorsports has announced that it will be bringing its new Martin V1000 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe to next week’s SEMA show in Las Vegas.
Featured in the CTS-V Coupe, though offered on the CTS-V Sedan and Sport Wagon, the Martin V1000 package consists primarily of a supercharged 7.0-liter V-8 engine swap. The final output figures come in at 1,000 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 900 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 rpm.
Other modifications include a custom intercooler setup, a discreet but fully functional bodykit, a stainless steel high-flow exhaust system, and 22-inch wheels.
Harold Martin promises full dyno testing of the kit, as well as performance numbers of 3.5 seconds for the 0-60 mph run and a top speed in excess of 200 mph.
Note, if you like your cars looking a little more extreme, Hennessey will also build you a 1,000 horsepower CTS-V Coupe along with an over-the-top bodykit to go with it.
The 2011 SEMA show doesn’t kick off until next week but in the meantime click here for our full coverage of the event.
