Southfield, MI (November 13, 2018) Harold Martin, CEO of Martin Technologies, as spokesman for the family of the late Huston Martin, announced their appreciation to all who expressed condolences for the passing of family patriarch, Mr. Huston Martin. Nearly 2,000 friends, associates and fans attended memorial services or otherwise shared support and celebrated Huston’s life.

The Huston Martin Education Fund has been established in honor of Martin’s passion to advance motorsports and automotive technology. An award will be presented annually to selected student(s) who will continue their formal education, beyond secondary school, in automotive technology.  Huston came to Detroit to pursue an automotive career at General Motors. With a strong passion for motorsports, Huston built his first race car in 1960 and named it “Little Kim.” In 1972, in addition to working at GM, Huston started his first business, Little Kim’s High Performance. He built and campaigned a total of 29 race cars bearing the “Little Kim” trademark which was recognized on and off the racetrack by motorsports enthusiasts across the country. He innovated new technology in his race cars demonstrating progressive performance gains. During his prime, Martin was known as a Weekend Warrior, often racing at four different tracks in a weekend. He challenged every Ford and Mopar with his “Martin tuned” Chevy race cars. He was noted for having great reflexes, consistency, and was a fan favorite known for putting on a good show.

Huston utilized his God-given gifts to inspire and support many dreams from Concept to Reality. Those who worked, raced, or otherwise were in community with Huston Martin consistently identify the follow attributes as core strengths he utilized in support of his family, friends, and the advancement of automotive technology:

Huston has been honored by the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association), IHRA (International Hot Rod Association), AHRA (American Hot Rod Association), UHRA (United Hot Rod Association), MHRA (Michigan Hot Rod Association), and inducted into the NMA (National Motorsports Association) Hall of Fame. His racing accomplishments include being honored for the most wins in history at the Detroit Dragway. Martin had a winning streak that lasted so long he was dubbed “The Champ.”
